在网络教育实践中,由于图像信息具有直观、形象、易懂和信息量大等特点,因此在远程教育实践中得到了最广泛的应用而且无疑具有举足轻重的作用.虽然图像信息有着许多的优点,但也存在不可回避的潜在问题,其中一个主要问题就是其数据量过于庞大.大数据量的图像信息会给存储器的存储容量,通信干线信道的带宽,以及计算机处理速度增加极大的压力,对远程教育实践而言也是具有重大的影响的,会造成通信堵塞、网络延迟、语音图像不同步等一系列问题.因此,需要在保持原图像中包含的本质信息的基础上,对通信和存储时必需的数据进行压缩.利用图像压缩,可以减轻图像存储和传输的负担,使图像在网络上实现快速传输和实时处理.
有关图像压缩编码的国际标准很多,基于离散小波变换为主的多分辨率编码方式JPEG2000是目前静态图像中压缩比最高图像质量最好的,但也有不足之处,主要体现在编解码时间较长,重构图像边缘有毛刺,不平滑等.本文对JPEG2000压缩算法进行了初步的研究并尝试对其进行改进.
