A Beijing love story for the pop psychology savvy generation raised on self-help books,"Waiting Alone" provides honest laughter and touching moments as it invades the modern romantic comedy turf of Woody Allen and Nora Ephron.The strength of the cross-cultural influences are probably due to the fact that frosh writer-director Dayyan Eng,whose impressive second short,"Bus 44," played Cannes Directors' Fortnight two years ago,is a Taiwan-born Chinese who studied film at Washington U.before transferring to Beijing Film Academy.Script's warmth and humor give it specialized chances beyond the usual Chinese-language markets of China,Hong Kong and Singapore.
Recovering from a failed romance,Chen Wen (Xia Yu,from "Shadow Magic," "Electric Shadows") takes advice from friends and family about getting laid or getting loved,depending on their interests in life.Amid this barrage of counseling,Chen is focused on Liu Rong (Li Bingbing),a flaky actress who flirts with him constantly but is looking for a man -- any man -- who can further her career.
Sitting behind the counter of the antique store he owns in Beijing,Chen tries making money writing ghost stories.(A horror insert early on gives an impressive demo of both the character's scribbling and helmer Eng's versatility.) As well as providing a convenient place for characters to drop in and chat with Chen,the antique store is also the source of an amusing running gag about selling Hong Kong star Chow Yun-fat's underwear.
Eng tells his yarn about the cons of singledom with compassion and good-humor,providing insights both tried-and-true and original.One observation about the ludicrousness of nightclubs provides pic with one of its funniest scenes,raising surprise that this piece of wisdom has never been articulated before.A strong joke rounds the movie off and auds with a knowledge of Hong Kong movies will leave cinema with a joyous bang.
All thesps show good comic timing,and Xia is especially good as the lovelorn Chen.Appearing in virtually every scene,he's handsome enough to be easy on the eye but not so physically perfect that his character's more nebbish moments are unbelievable.Gong Beibi also impresses as a smart,hip girl who's Chen's amorous blind spot.

In a small village that could be seen all over the 18th Century's Europe, the villagers lived peacefully there. The elder and sainted presbyters controlled the laws and rules of the village while the youngsters grew up, worked, lived and generated under the teaching of the elders.
村子的四周是茂密的树林，而树林里有另外的一种生物，比人类强大，具有智慧，獠牙和爪子。
Around the village were the dense forests, but there was another kind of creature in the forests who were much more stronger than the human beings, they had paws and buckteeth, they held intellegence.

我一直固执的认为，每个人都有着别人无法理解或无法知晓的怪癖，象Ameile喜欢把手指插入豆子中，用石头砸窗户。潜意识里，每个人都认为自己带点与众不同。而Ameile和连诺，也曾经因为怪癖而一直找不到意中人。电影中，用了特写的镜头把每个人的表情放大，Ameile总是略带神秘地出现在街头，做完事情后悄无声息地消失，面对人时露出一丝小小的惊恐。每个人的性格都怪诞乖张，语言夸张幽默，又十分自然，令人忍俊不禁。电影里的音乐也是一大亮点：风琴随着情节的起伏，伴着Ameile匆匆的脚步而起，似是与观众一起追赶剧情，打击乐也在内心戏时低吟浅唱着……
喜欢看着Ameile穿着宽大的黑皮鞋穿梭在小城，实施鬼点子时嘴角狡黠的笑意，还有每个小人物鲜明的小动作。几乎每个人都是神经质和偏执狂，音乐和特写镜头又恰到好处，为这部戏增色不少。
第一次看法国电源，就有了惊喜。Ameile就是天使，用她傻傻的举动捕抓着观众的眼球，有着善于发现生活和永不停息的心，每个人都能为他人带来快乐。

Ameile was thought as the doctor's father there's something wrong with the heart, taught at home in person by mother while as a child. She has no friend, introversive, unsociable and eccentric, the brain is full of the idea with precise and strange ancient fairy, full of paranoias too at one's side: My father is melancholy, immerse oneself in planting; The fruit blocks boss' personality irritably, like abusing the retarded child labor; Glass old man stay indoors, in repeat one of picture paint 20 more than year; The woman landlord downstairs is pessimistic because of the husband's betrayal; Dual windmill fast food restaurants working as a temporary labourer are that individuals have worries too ……. One day, Ameile find one bury little box for 50 years in own wall, holding a little boy's collection of childhood inside, she made a decision: Find the host of the box. As the host sees the box lost and found again, surprise and happy at the same time. Ameile is encouraged big, it is determined to be ready to help others from then on. She begins to do some minor matters for the people at one's side silently, waits for others to find carefully. Everybody's life changes quietly, the small act is moved by everybody. While in others' help, Ameile met one's own love too: There is promise of connecting of the odd habit like her. After a series of things full of twists and turns, Ameile met the lover at last.
I have been stubborn all the time to think, everybody has odd habits unables to understand or know of others, like inserting finger in the bean like Ameile, break the window with the stone. In subconscious, everybody thinks it is out of the common that one's own area is clicked. And Ameile and promise of connecting, could not once find the lover all the time because of odd habit. In the film, enlarge everybody's expression with the scene of the feature, Ameile always a little appears in the street mysteriously, disappear quietly after finishing the thing, it is terrified that it is small to show a silk in the face of people. Everybody's personalities are all weird and eccentric, the language overstates the humour, it is very natural, make people cannot help smiling. The music in the film is a great light spot too: The organ is with the wave of the plot, the companion Ameile step hurriedly gets up, it is to catch up with the story together with audience that like, chant in a low voice and sing lightly while attacking the happy play in heart ……
Like, see Ameile shuttle back and forth, in small city, implement spirit some the period of the day from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. corner of the mouth crafty smile in spacious black leather shoes, and each small potato's distinct little trick. Nearly everybody is nervousness and paranoia, music and close-up shot are just right, add much beauty to this play. See the French power for the first time, there is pleasant surprise. Ameile is the angel, catch the audience's eyeball with her silly and silly act, is good at finding life and eternal heart, everybody can bring happiness to others. Everybody will be an angel.
