这个句子里面已经有三个主谓宾了,那应该是三个独立的句子.按照英语的语法,这三个独立的句子之间应该用句号,是这样吧?

但本文为什么没有用句号,而是用的逗号?如果这种写法是正确的,请帮助我理解这是为什么；如果这种写法是错误的,那可能就是这篇文章的作者写得也没那么严谨,就像人经常说话和写字时犯些错误一样,那就没什么好说的了.

后面的第一个逗号
the earth is ravaged by massive alien beings,
第二个逗号
but they don’t come from outer space,
第三个逗号
emerging from a tear between two dimensions.
第一个逗号后面 用了but 这种情况下 两个完整的句子 可以放在一个句子里 用逗号 这种情况很多 有的时候用and
而but后面 they don't .逗号 they do .
这种用法很特殊
通常说法是 后半句是在对前半句的进一步展开 补充说明
这种情况下 两句句式相同且句义非常一致的时候 可以并为一句 用逗号
